What does it mean to be a member of Watters Road?
Church membership means different things to different people! For some, it's like being a member of a club or civic organization. For others, it has a much deeper meaning. Our understanding of church membership at Watters Road comes from the New Testament. Our greatest concern for you depends on where you are in relationship with the Lord. If you are a Christian, having been immersed for"the forgiveness of your sins to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit" (Acts 2:38) then membership means identifying yourself as a baptized believer, submitting to the leadership of our Elders, and being an active part of this family of Christians. If you have never been baptized this way, or if you are not sure, we want to assist you in understanding what the Bible says about salvation. When you are immersed and become a Christian, God then adds you to His church. You don't join it. (Acts 2:47) As you have already read, we are concerned for your soul over all things. Your salvation, faith and spiritual health are our primary ministry. We are here to assist you in experiencing a blessed life in Christ. A part of this blessed life is serving others. You can't be really satisfied as a Christian unless you let Him use you in his service. Members at Watters Road are encouraged to be servants. Members of this Christian family support good works by participating in free-will offerings that come from the heart. We share our money, possessions and talents at Watters Road. We want you to be a member of a family that meets together regularly to worship, study, encourage each other, and have fun, too! We also want you to be with fellow Christians outside this building. We love this facility, but our homes are where life really happens. This is why we want you to be a part of our Home Bible Fellowship Ministry. Finally, we realize that not everyone is at the same place spiritually. Watters Road is a church where you can grow and learn. It is our desire to treat everyone with respect. Everyone at Watters Road needs a Savior! If you are a seeker, don't give up! God is your answer, whether it makes sense to you now or not. We are here for you. Watters Road can be a wonderful refuge from a sinful world. But remember, the real refuge is found only in salvation through Jesus Christ. That is God's greatest gift and that's the gift we want to offer you.
